ORAS™ - Online Recording and Assessment
Online Recording & Assessment System (ORAS) is used across the NHS in Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales. The system was originally developed for use within NHSScotland and has since been adopted throughout the rest of the UK. At present ORAS hosts the Effective Use of Blood group’s Better Blood Transfusion Continuing Education Programme.
ORAS allows learners to print out a Certificate of Achievement after summative assessments have taken place to show that people have achieved theoretical competence. This is to meet the requirements of the EU Directive: Blood Safety and Quality Regulations (2005).
ORAS also hosts a full induction programme which is currently rolling out across NHSScotland. See below for more details.

Safe Transfusion Practice
This programme has been developed by Transfusion experts from the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service Effective Use of Blood Group and is supported by specialists from the UK Blood Services.
This programme will appeal to anyone involved in Blood Transfusion or who is interested in Safe Transfusion Practice.

Induction modules have been developed for the Scottish NHS to allow 60,000 members of staff from all roles to access online material as well as assess themselves. Titles include:

Content Development and e-Learning Authoring
MDC offer two options for the development of e-Learning content for the Healthcare sector:

- Providing a content development framework where organisations can develop their own content using authoring tools such as coursegenie™, Lectora™ or Seminar™ which can then be uploaded to ORAS with recordable assessments.
