MDC are fully aware of the need to ensure that any development work undertaken includes consideration of accessibility. MDC aim to comply with the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (the final rights of access having come into force in October 2004) and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Act 2001. We are also committed to educating our clients in the requirements of this legislation and its technicalities.
MDC follow the W3 Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and aim to develop all of our websites and courseware to a minimum of WAI Level 1 compliance. This is the level recommended by the UK government in the whitepaper, ‘A new future for Communications’ (2000) and is generally considered as good practice.
MDC agree wholeheartedly with Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web, who famously quoted that 'The power of the Web is in its universality. Access by everyone regardless of disability is an essential aspect'.
